Covid-19: We support our local businesses

The corona crisis, which hardly anyone can bear to hear about anymore, also affects us. In addition to many creative and young designer fairs that were supposed to take place in March and April, there are also fewer customers who spontaneously drop by our manufactory, and overall, trade is becoming quieter aside from toilet paper and the like.

However, as a manufactory with our own online shop, we are not hit as hard as many local shops that now have to close indefinitely or at least do so voluntarily to further contain the virus, thus having to forgo financial revenues. That is why it is even more important to talk about the fact that alongside all the consequences for health protection, such as home office, support measures for the elderly and immunocompromised, many local retailers are also affected by the right and important measures of the government. It is estimated that around five million sole proprietorships in Germany are affected by the current situation and possibly the resulting crisis. This includes many small boutiques and shops that have fewer than five employees or even run the store alone.

Here in Cologne, it is no different, and our friends and acquaintances are also affected by the current precautionary measures of store closures. This goes so far that livelihoods are threatened as the income from the shops is sometimes the only financial means to cope with monthly costs. Since we as a manufactory also benefit from the local shops that usually sell our wooden lamps in Cologne, we certainly want to support them in return.  

In particular, the measures affect one of our longest and closest partners by our side, the blickWERKE Vintage & Interior in the southern part of Cologne. We have decided to donate 20% of our online revenues to blickWERKE in the next two months (April & May 2020) so that we can help each other in this difficult situation and manage to get through this healthily - but also financially healthily.
